Should I follow your free YouTube videos or is there any other alternative to learn, given I can't afford your course?
Just follow my free YouTube videos—I don’t gatekeep the knowledge; everything you need is there. I only gatekeep accountability, coaching, and live Q&A. If you’re extremely dedicated to the work, you already have what you need to succeed.
I don’t believe in gatekeeping knowledge because knowledge is no longer a moat in the knowledge economy. I give all my knowledge away for free. If you want implementation, coaching, or accountability, that’s when you join my community—that’s where most of my content lives.
It really depends on where you are. If you've made some money already and have notable accomplishments to talk about, starting a YouTube channel is fine. But if you don't have anything notable, no major accomplishment yet, I would not start a YouTube channel first. What I'd do first is knock something out of the park and get some social proof under your belt — get a win in the arena of business. Then once you have the win, you can start talking about it and combine the two into a 'wins machine,' like I have. If you're a total beginner who's never sold anything or made any money, focus less on monetizing through content and more on starting a business and doing outreach to people who might want your products or services. Make $20-40K, pay down your client debt and knowledge debt, understand what people are really willing to pay for — then you can start posting content on YouTube later.
I’m not answering this directly because I covered it in my most recent video, but my take is that the expected value of launching a YouTube channel early in your journey is lower than that of activities like outreach. Therefore I’d suggest focusing on higher‑EV options such as outreach or other lead‑generation tactics instead of a new tutorial channel.
All the information in my Maker School is free. The school community adds daily accountability and organizes that information into a clear roadmap: day one do X, day two do Y, day three set up emails, day four send five Upwork applications, day five do this, day six do this. It also includes Q&A, a network, and a monthly call with me where you can ask any question (time permitting). In short, the community holds your hand through a business model, offering structure and support beyond the free videos.
