When you hop on a discovery or closing call with clients, do you use regular phone calls or video calls? Which do you do more?

I almost always do video calls because video provides higher bandwidth, making it easier for clients to see my face and mannerisms. People generally prefer more bandwidth in communication, and since it’s one of my strengths, I use video whenever I can.

Do you think hopping on a video call is essential for closing high-ticket clients, or can deals be closed effectively over the phone? Since I'm younger, I'm concerned being on camera might negatively impact my sales cycle. If video calls are necessary, what platform do you recommend for those closing calls?

Do I think video calls are necessary in order to close a high-ticket client? Yes, I basically do. Not necessarily — obviously you can buy a Tesla through Apple Pay nowadays and you don't need a video call for it. But the vast majority of people will not want to spend a large amount of money with you unless they can verify who you or your organization is through something like a call. It's also very difficult to sell somebody on a very high-ticket product unless you are physically there to walk them through things like last-minute objections and so on. People will very rarely spontaneously want to spend, say, $20,000 on some sort of knowledge or info product — at least in my niche anyway. So unless you have somebody that's with them and can help them out and sort of coach them, the probability of them signing is very low. What platform would I use for this? Just Google Meet or something.

Do you now use a teleprompter for your videos, and is it better for you?

I do use a teleprompter for my Instagram videos, which are short‑form news clips. I write a script, read it on camera, and then my editor handles about 99% of the post‑production. That workflow has helped us scale quickly. I don’t use a teleprompter for these daily Q&A videos, though, so the answer depends on the platform you’re creating for.

I'm a high‑school senior aiming to earn $3‑4K per month with my AI automation agency. Should I keep cold‑calling or switch to custom Loom videos?

Focus the same energy you use for cold calls on personalized Loom videos. Record a short, value‑packed video that breaks down the prospect’s business and shows how your service helps them. Then send it via DM—about 10 to 15 videos a day is manageable for a student. This approach tends to get better responses than a generic cold call because it feels tailored and demonstrates effort up front. Keep the ambition, gumption, and tenacity you already have, but channel it into video outreach instead of phone calls.
