Do you have videos to help with content writing or copywriting?
Yes, I have a resource. I recorded a four‑hour in‑depth course on cold email after a viewer requested it. If you search for “Nick’s cold email course” it will appear. The course walks through everything I use to close hundreds of thousands of dollars in deals with complete strangers, entirely through cold email. It covers my copywriting cadence, format, the four key lines you should include in every copywriting email, and includes a segment where I review real emails from my inbox, rewrite them, and explain the process.
I don't like doing more cold email templates because I'm unable to test them myself; testing all would be a lot of work. Making a video just for the community would take about six hours, which doesn't make sense pound-for-pound since I've already spent that time developing the Maker School program.
Just start with plain text. Simple text‑only outreach works fine for a new campaign. If the simple approach gets results, you don’t need to add video or complex tech. As long as your copy complies with copyright guidelines and you keep the message straightforward, it can be effective.
I have a short guide on how I do copywriting in my cold‑email video “Watch Me Start and Sell an AS Service.” In that video I walk through finding leads, selling to them, and the mindset behind creating offers. I’ve read a lot of copywriting and sales books, as well as psychology books, and many of the concepts overlap. While I can’t point to a single definitive book, reading a mix of copywriting, sales, and psychology material will give you a solid foundation.
First, eliminate unnecessary words. Ask yourself if you can say the same thing in fewer words and then rewrite it that way. For example, a sentence that was 14 words and 69 characters can often be reduced to 8 words and 43 characters without losing meaning. Get out of the habit of using filler words like “really”; replace them with stronger alternatives (e.g., “rapidly” instead of “really fast”).
Second, understand the platform you’re writing for. In cold‑email outreach, you can add value in several places: use the sender’s first and last name in the subject line, craft a compelling teaser of 10‑something characters, and give the attachment a descriptive title. Personalization matters—show that you’ve done the research, mention something specific from their profile, and make the email feel tailor‑made. By keeping every element short, impactful, and platform‑specific, you increase the chances of a click and a response. These two principles—ruthlessly concise writing and platform‑aware personalization—are my core tips for better copywriting.
