Is the AI market too saturated to succeed, and how can I overcome limiting beliefs about competition?

Commoditization is inevitable as any market grows, but early‑stage competition isn’t a bad thing—it signals demand and opportunity. Even with many players, there’s still money to be made, and you’ll learn valuable skills in AI, automation, and client work. The downside of trying it for a few months is only a few hundred dollars, while the upside includes gaining experience, building a portfolio, and positioning yourself for higher‑ticket work. Test the market for a short period; the effort required is low relative to the potential return, and you’ll quickly see whether it’s right for you.

How much time remains before the AI automation space is saturated?

I think sometime over the next 2 to 3 years; I've been saying that for the last 6 months, maybe 2 to 2.5 years. Saturation is a relative term—just because something is called saturated doesn't mean you can't make money in it. Think of saturation like peak oil: the point where the most money is possible using the business model, after which it declines. However, interest in the model and the average impact of systems we build are increasing over time as AI technology improves, so you can still make a lot of money on the way down. If I were you, I'd get up and running with the stuff ASAP, because no market tactic lasts forever, and even if today's tactics stop working, there will be new business models I'll learn about and share with you.

What's the best way to get leads for AI automation service? Should I choose one niche, one automation, or go multiple niches and automations? I did Upwork, got two clients, total of 60 bucks. I guess the competition is higher there or I'm just a lazy person.

It's not that the competition is really high or that you're lazy. Realistically, it's a combination of multiple factors, but you're missing that you're not applying the right effort at the right place—being strategic with your effort. It's not that you're lazy if you don't get the results you want; often you simply haven't applied your high levels of willpower in the right tactical place.

If starting an AI journey from scratch today, what skill should I learn first, what roadmap would get me to $10k/month, and how long would it take? I’m overwhelmed and can’t afford your paid school, so I need free guidance.

You don’t need deep technical skill to make money with AI. Learn enough to build simple landing pages (e.g., a 4‑hour Claude course plus an hour of prompting) in about 5 hours. Then your real bottleneck is outreach—getting people to see your offer. Focus on getting eyes on your product/service; once you have traffic, you can convert and scale. This approach lets you start earning quickly without heavy technical investment.

How accurate do you think the AI 2027 paper will be, and how can entrepreneurs ensure they aren't replaced by advanced AI that anyone can use?

I didn't say the AI gold rush would die in a few months; it's a transformation of capital from payroll to cloud‑based machines, with money flowing to infrastructure providers like OpenAI. As a service provider, you can help implement that shift. Realistically, it will take years before it no longer makes sense to pursue this work. I have read the AI 2027 paper, and the reality is there's no guarantee entrepreneurs won't be replaced—machines can do knowledge work thousands of times faster and better, and that gap is widening. Nothing humans do is economically sacred; eventually AI could take over. In the midterm, focus on business skills that let you create value in this transition and get comfortable acting with uncertainty, because AI can't yet take real‑world action. Your ability to act is the edge you have.
