Do you watch anime with subtitles or dubbed?

Yes, I watch anime with subtitles 100% of the time. It takes work, but it's interesting. I learned to read by playing Pokémon as a kid, where the game used subtitles instead of audio, forcing me to read quickly. Since then I've read everything with subtitles my whole life, which I think makes me a faster and better reader because the text only appears briefly, training my mind to read fast. When I watch anime in Japanese with subtitles, I have to focus and can read subtitles quickly, which likely contributes to my fast reading speed. I also find dub voices annoying and think it would be cool to have AI clone the original voice actors.

How do you dub your courses, like the Claude Code course? What tool did you use, and what do you think about YouTube native dubbing?

YouTube native dubbing is unfortunately not very good. You can't really do it for long-form courses automatically, so you have to do it yourself, and that's what I've been doing. I've been using ElevenLabs. It's been okay. The issue is obviously it's all flagged as AI because I'm using an AI voice dubbing tool, but it's not the end of the world. We've also experimented with specific dubbing channels like Mix Ride Bengali, for instance, where I dub and do some lip sync stuff. These are all being flagged as AI and there's like zero performance on them, which fucking blows. So I'm probably going to redo that. I'm not 100% sure.

Why are subtitles not showing on your videos and how can I enable them?

I hadn’t set the video language on YouTube, so automatic subtitles weren’t generated. Adding the correct language (English) enables YouTube’s auto‑captioning, which helps non‑native speakers and viewers watching at faster speeds. It’s a simple fix that improves accessibility and can boost growth.

How do I balance speed with quality for AI automation?

Speed and quality aren't a trade-off; you generally get both. Only in extreme low-latency cases (like real-time voice agents) might you sacrifice quality for speed, using cheap, fast models. For most use cases, the real trade-off is speed and quality versus cost.
