I’m trying to land my first AI client but Upwork is flooded with proposals and my English is weak. Will that make it harder to get a client?
In general, I’ve worked with many beginners and you’re not special—everyone faces downsides, but they also have upsides you don’t see. You’re likely at the start line like everyone else. Have you done more than 100 applications? Probably not; seeing 50 proposals and thinking ‘I can’t do this’ is normal. Any worthwhile opportunity will have at least 50 people gunning for it. On Upwork, most competition is low‑quality copy‑paste, so you’re really competing with only 5‑10 serious players, making it economically effective if you’re smart.
