If you were starting an AI automation agency from scratch in March 2025, which niches or industries would you focus on, and which automation flows would be best to prioritize and monetize?

I’d start with the three top‑performing niches I’ve identified: high‑touch SaaS businesses, recruitment firms, and coaches or consultants. These have proven to generate the highest ROI. For each niche I’d sell a suite of automation systems – an automated candidate‑placement hiring pipeline, a personalized cold‑email outreach system, an automated reporting/dashboard, an AI‑coach chatbot, and a coaching‑management CRM. I’ve documented all of these in a public doc, and you can even Google “best AI automation agency niche 2025” to see the same results.

Which businesses should I target for my AI automation agency, ideally high‑ticket, online‑focused companies, and what else should I consider?

You want three things. First, target niches with high lifetime value (LTV). The higher the LTV, the more you can spend to acquire a client and still make a profit. For example, a shoe‑shine service might generate a few hundred dollars per year, whereas a personal injury firm could bring tens or hundreds of thousands. Second, choose industries where the prospect data is easily scrapable or digitally acquirable—LinkedIn Sales Navigator, keyword searches, etc.—so you can find decision‑makers who can sign checks. Third, consider compliance: heavily regulated sectors like healthcare or government‑related services are hard to automate with AI and carry legal risk. Also avoid platforms that could ban you if you automate them. In short, focus on high‑LTV, digitally reachable, low‑regulation niches.

What top automation systems should a beginner focus on for high ROI, and is it better to offer only four or five automation services to a specific niche?

Great question. I actually just published a video that breaks this down, so I’ll point you there. The basic framework is a two‑column chart: the left side shows the types of automation you should avoid selling, and the right side lists the high‑ROI services you can sell. All of those right‑side items have been covered in videos on my channel over the past year, so you can stitch together a blueprint, add your own twists, and make sure it feels like your own offering rather than just a re‑branded template. Focus on a handful of high‑ROI automation services, customize them for your niche, and you’ll have a solid, marketable package.

What niches are currently most in demand for automation in the US, such as HVAC, dentists, and law firms?

We have a bunch of people in Maker School experimenting with a wide landscape of niches, which is a benefit of being in the community. You can see which niches are working and which aren’t. HVAC, dentists, and law firms aren’t making a ton of money with automation because there aren’t enough of them to apply high‑volume, iterative strategies. I don’t recommend focusing on local services; instead go entirely digital and target industries with large headcounts that can benefit from automation without hurting profitability. The biggest boom right now is recruitment, which saw a surge of interest and will likely rise again. I also suggest experimenting with recruitment, older‑school agencies that haven’t caught up, MSPs, IT consultants, and similar businesses that can source leads automatically via tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator.

What's the best way to get leads for AI automation service? Should I choose one niche, one automation, or go multiple niches and automations? I did Upwork, got two clients, total of 60 bucks. I guess the competition is higher there or I'm just a lazy person.

It's not that the competition is really high or that you're lazy. Realistically, it's a combination of multiple factors, but you're missing that you're not applying the right effort at the right place—being strategic with your effort. It's not that you're lazy if you don't get the results you want; often you simply haven't applied your high levels of willpower in the right tactical place.
